Alek has graceful but distinctive African beauty, She has appeared in dozens of advertising campaigns, in Vogue, and on the cover of Elle. Alek was also named "Best New Model" at the Paris Fashion Awards and "MTV Model of the Year." The trend-setting i-D magazine chose her as "Model of the Decade," In addition to modeling she has been featured in the New York Times, Newsweek, USA Today, and People.
Despite her success, Alek has not forgotten about her troubled homeland. She is a member of the U.S. Committee for Refugees` Advisory Council, she is helping to raise awareness about the situation in Sudan, as well as the plight of refugees worldwide.
